What’s on
From September to November, discover La Vénus électrique, a romantic tragicomedy as unsettling as it is seductive, by Pierre Salvadori.
Paris, 1928. Antoine Balestro, a young and fashionable painter, can no longer work since his wife's death and is despairing Armand, his gallery owner. One drunken evening, Antoine attempts to contact his wife through a fortune teller. Unbeknownst to him, he is actually speaking with Suzanne, a humble fairgoer who has slipped into the caravan to steal some food.

The film achieves the feat of sketching characters haunted by suffering, while guiding them toward a luminous quest for love and beauty. It evokes a work "both melancholic and at the same time quite light-hearted," defined by Salvadori himself as a true "cheerful melodrama." Its strength lies in its writing: "That's what I love so much about this very refined writing. Themes emerge without being forced, without being heavy-handed."The Mask and the Pen
