What’s on
Until October 22, discover the new musical project of Oum, an artist renowned for her ability to reinvent traditions and push the boundaries of musical creation. This new solo album Dialddar, composed of original songs in Moroccan Darija, marks a major milestone in her artistic journey.
With Dialddar ("homemade"), Oum makes a radical gesture: composing an album without strings or winds, relying solely on voice and percussion. A choice that is both a technical challenge and an artistic manifesto. The percussion instruments used are mostly handmade in Marrakech. Their tuning, sensitive to variations in temperature and humidity, makes each recording fragile, living, and changing. It is precisely this organic dimension that Oum wished to preserve: music that breathes, that escapes control, and that finds its rightness in the moment.
On stage, Dialddar becomes an immersive choral experience. OUM is surrounded by a multinational ensemble, predominantly female, whose voices blend with the percussion in an organic dialogue. Among them, Natascha Rogers on percussion, Cynthia Abraham, Lucile Chriqui, and Ayda Benslimane, voices of the Parisian jazz and world scene, weave harmonies and polyrhythms that are both sensitive and powerful. Beside them, the oud of Yacir Rami – a long-time complicit companion – adds its refined and minimalist touch, like a golden thread that embroiders the raw yet sophisticated sonic fabric of Dialddar. The woman–percussion–vocal triangulation is at the heart of this show: a space where the intimate becomes collective, and where feminine energy asserts itself as a universal creative force.
With Dialddar, Oum continues her quest for a universal, rooted, and visionary music that invites a sensitive listening to the world.
