What’s on
Odile Guinand, visual artist
Odile Guinand's exhibition-installation fits precisely into this centuries-old space, steeped in memory and resonant with echoes of a bygone world. Every stone, every corner of the building seems to whisper ancient tales, like fragments of history suspended in time. The artist spent long moments in this recently restored site to imagine a work in perfect harmony with the soul of the place. She conceived her intervention as a resonance between her creations and the architecture, in a respectful and subtle dialogue.
Reminiscences of intimate stories and shared emotions, the materials she uses – smagh, spices, beeswax, earths, skins… – are deeply rooted in African traditions. By subverting their original use, the artist seeks to reveal their sacred dimension, paying homage to those who manipulated them before her. Each element carries multiple layers of narrative: that of its origin, that of the artist, that of the work, and finally, that projected by the viewer's gaze.
