What’s on
For its 6th edition, the Marrakech Photography Encounters install contemporary photography in some of the city's most beautiful venues, from the Bahia Palace to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. Four days of exhibitions, screenings, portfolio readings, and meetings with photographers, curators, and collectors.
Wednesday 7 October: screening of the shortlisted candidates at Meydene (16:00), followed by the grand opening evening and exhibition at the Bahia Palace (18:00) featuring Crossed Gazes: China/Morocco (Qi Hao and Noureddine El Warari) and Silk Road, Road of the Heart (Cynthia Cooper).
Thursday 8 October: portfolio readings at the Moroccan Culinary Arts Museum (10:00 – 13:00), opening of Silent Synchrony by Priamo Tolu at the Sofitel (16:00), portraits of music legends captured between 1983 and 1993, followed by a meeting and book launch at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum (19:00).
Friday 9 October: new portfolio readings in the morning, exhibition Travels and Opinions of Max Belfourt by Massimiliano Gatti at Meydene (18:00), screening of finalists and closing evening with prize presentation (20:30).
Saturday 10 October: Tombouctou at the Moroccan Culinary Arts Museum (16:00), followed by a double exhibition opening at the Mövenpick (19:00): the 1950s–60s cinema starlets of Graziano Arici (Bellissima) and jazzmen in motion by Noureddine El Warari (Vibrations).
