Our review
Located about 40 minutes from Marrakech, Agafay Luxury Camp sprawls across a plateau of canyons, dunes, and gorges, with the Atlas Mountains on the horizon. You sleep under canvas, but without any compromises: air-conditioned tents with hot water and an outdoor bathtub, or one-bedroom villas with their own pool facing the canyon.
Days are spent between the two pools, the large jacuzzi, and the lodge's terrace at sunset, when the desert turns copper. The panoramic restaurant serves dinner and a hearty breakfast, featuring well-executed Moroccan dishes and vegetarian options. To get around, the camp organizes camel treks, quad outings, and hot air balloon flights. The welcome is warm, and the director is happy to stop by the tables to check in. A destination for a romantic getaway, a birthday, or a night away with friends far from the city.
Keep in mind: the atmosphere is rather festive, with music by the pool during the day and musicians at dinner, so it's not ideal if you're looking for complete silence. Expect more than 3,700 dirhams per night, and cocktails priced at a premium. But when the sun sets on the ridges, you'll quickly understand why you made the journey.
