Hammam Anbar & Spa review: our verdict
Three ways to experience a hammam at the same address on Boulevard Oued Sebou: the beldi style, featuring rows of white stools, stone basins, and wall-mounted taps against grey walls; the Turkish style, which is more modern; and a private spa-style room that is heated to order before your arrival. The ritual remains the same: soap application followed by exfoliation with a glove, with the option of a half-hour or one-hour massage, and a special herbal or coffee soap treatment.
The complex also includes a gym with a women's section and a pool with aquagym classes. Regulars from the El Wiam neighborhood come here for the exfoliation treatments, which are quick even when it's busy. This is the spot for a well-executed weekly hammam experience, not a palace ritual: you can rent a towel and robe on-site if you don't have your own.
The best deal: the package combining entry, exfoliation, soap treatment, and massage, or the complete formula with towel, robe, glove, and products. The pitfall: arriving at peak hours hoping for the calm of a spa. The best time slot: early morning, as the house opens from 7 am to 9 pm every day.
