Le Bain Bleu review: our verdict
Few hammams offer the chance to stay at a table after the massage, but at Le Bain Bleu, the lunch package is part of the experience: you move from the steam room to the massage room, and then to the house restaurant, where the couscous holds its own. The venue, located in the medina, is pleasant and well-run, designed for you to spend several hours there without checking your watch.
The duo treatments, consisting of 45 minutes of hammam followed by 45 minutes of massage, are suitable for couples, and small groups of friends also find their share of enjoyment here. The masseuses take their time and know how to focus on the knots. On the hammam side, the reception can be more reserved and the hands heavier than one might wish: not ideal for a first visit if you have sensitive skin. And it is not a budget plan, as the packages are priced like a real outing.
The good deal: the lunch option, which turns the treatment into a complete day of rest. The trap: undergoing an overly vigorous scrub in silence; speak up right from the first few minutes, and no one will come to ask you. The doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
