Dar Justo review: our verdict
The restaurant occupies the upper level of the riad, situated on tiered terraces offering views of the Koutoubia minaret and, on clear days, the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Wicker chandeliers, bookshelves, striped armchairs, bougainvillea along the balustrade, and cushioned benches for the evening give Dar Justo the air of an artist's home. The menu plays two parts: home-style Moroccan cuisine, with chicken and almond pastilla as a standout, alongside Mediterranean dishes.
This is the perfect spot for a sunny lunch or a quiet dinner for two, far removed from the hustle of the souks yet just a few alleys away. You can choose shade or full sun depending on the terrace, the service is attentive, and the bill remains fair for the medina. A heated room takes over in winter. This is not a festive rooftop: the place is calm, a destination for conversation and gazing at the sky.
The dish to order: the pastilla, the house's pride. The glass to order: Moroccan wine or beer, since the house serves alcohol, which remains rare in this neighborhood. The best time slot: sunset, when the Koutoubia lights up facing the benches; continuous service from noon to 11 pm.
