Lodge K Hotel review: our verdict
At Lodge K, every suite has its own decor, with several featuring beds suspended under large draped canopies, complete with four-poster beds, fireplaces, and arched windows, resembling a tastefully furnished caid's tent. Outside, the pool forms the heart of the estate: a large basin bordered by palm trees and lawn, situated on the road to Fès at the entrance of the Palmeraie.
People come here to spend a few days, whether as a couple or with friends, rather than to wander the medina, which requires a taxi. The staff is attentive, the evening cuisine and breakfasts are reliable, and swimming at night after dinner is part of the place's pleasures. However, the day rate is less polished: the setup is haphazard, the menu is slow to arrive, and rustic deck chairs are placed on wooden pallets.
The best time to visit is in the evening, around the pool, when the heat subsides. The trap: booking a day pass hoping for beach club service; the venue is designed primarily for those who sleep there.
