Palais des Arts et Culture review: our verdict
White, topped with red tiles and an orange roof, the Palais des Arts et de la Culture overlooks the Tangier bay from Malabata. It opened its doors for the International Jazz Day at the end of April 2024, featuring a large hall of approximately 1,400 seats with curved balconies and a wavy ceiling, plus two annex halls of 200 seats each.
People come here for a concert, festival, or conference: the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra and Nass El Ghiwane have already performed in a climate-controlled hall with comfortable armchairs. This is not a place for casual visits nor a theatre with a fixed season: the palace is often rented out to organizers, and information is channeled through the ticketing for each event.
The pitfall: tightly packed rows where it is difficult to cross your legs. The tip: aim for the center of the hall, far from the side speakers that saturate, and away from the last rows, where the projector hums during film sessions.
