Our review
On the road to Ourika, about forty minutes from Marrakech, the Anima garden is the work of Austrian artist André Heller: two hectares of cacti, palms, flowers, and bamboo where sculptures emerge around the bends of the paths. Here you cross a bamboo forest, two labyrinths, a water lily pond, and, on clear days, the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop.
You can stroll for two to three hours without rushing, as a couple, with friends, or with family. The route ends at the café, whose high terrace overlooks the mountains: you can have a drink or lunch at reasonable prices. A free shuttle departs from the Koutoubia parking lot upon reservation; schedules are announced on the garden's Instagram account.
Know this: plants are not always identified, so those who like to put a name on every species will remain a little unsatisfied. Come in the morning, when there are still few people and the light is soft on the Atlas.
