Number One review: our verdict
Number One owes much to its owner, Karim, and its decor: a bar on Mohammed V Avenue with personality, a playlist that readily drifts into the 80s, and a room where Tangier's youth cross paths with long-time regulars. You come in for a drink, but you stay for the atmosphere.
The mood is convivial, encounters happen easily, and the evening lasts until 2 a.m. It's the bar for a first night in Tangier to get the pulse of the city, or for a late-night gathering with friends who aren't ready to head home yet. There is no table to dine at: the cuisine, expensive for what it offers, lacks taste, and is the only real weakness of the house.
The trap: coming here to eat. The bar opens every evening at 5 p.m., with lunch service from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
