1112 review: our verdict
You enter wondering if this isn't a tourist trap, and you leave with a bag of tea bought at the shop. 1112, place de la Kissariat Ben Youssef, is built around a map of twelve teas from twelve regions of Morocco: you choose three, presented by the server, and the tasting arrives with a platter of traditional pastries so generous that a large table can't finish them.
The venue, a riad with chic decor, is open to visit: a small museum dedicated to tea and Moroccan table art, several rooms, then the rooftop with its view of Marrakech. You come here as a family, a couple, or in a group, for a calm interlude where you know the prices before ordering. Not for mint tea rushed at the counter: here, everything is staged, and that's the principle.
The dish to order: the pastilla 7 saints, if you stay beyond the tea. The good tip: accept the venue tour offered by the team, rooftop included. The best time slot: come late in the day to catch the sunset from the roof before the 7 pm closing.
