Akenza Golf Marrakech review: our verdict
At Akenza, the setting is established from the very first tee: closely mown fairways, patches of dry grass, and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains serving as a backdrop on almost every hole. However, it is the greens that earn its reputation; some are positioned like islands in the middle of small canyons, guarded by bunkers, with very fast roll.
It is an 18-hole long and demanding course that rewards precision and punishes approximation, ranking among the most technical layouts in the Marrakech area. The clubhouse serves a decent lunch and the reception is attentive. It is ideal for a player who already has an index and wants to test themselves; less so for a first outing, where you risk spending the day searching for your balls at the bottom of ravines.
The trap: underestimating the wind, which lengthens already long holes. The tip: choose your tees according to your index rather than out of pride. The best slot: the early departures, as the course opens at 8 am; it closes at 5 pm on Thursdays and 6 pm on other days.
