Our review
Côté Palmeraie, Aman, the Mohammed VI Museum dedicated to the civilization of water, opened in 2017 in a building designed by Rachid Sqalli Houssaini, featuring aquatic motifs running along the façade. Over 2,200 m², it retraces the history of water in Morocco: how it was transported, distributed across fields, stored, and what threatens it today.
The visit relies more on interactivity than on display cases: animated models, videos, projections, and panels in multiple languages. Children will have a great time, and adults leave with a new perspective on the region's gardens and palm groves. Outside, themed gardens and their fountains extend the message. The place is often quiet, air-conditioned, and has parking: perfect for a family morning or a cool break when the medina is packed.
Keep in mind: few antique objects, many screens, and some touchscreens do not always work. Plan for about two hours, and note that on Thursdays the closing time is advanced to 4 p.m. For the return, a bus passing in front of the entrance takes you back to Bab Doukkala. An instructive outing, far from the crowds.
