Domaine du Rétro review: our verdict
A white Jaguar Type E parked on the pebbles, pastel-colored Cadillacs, and a silver Porsche 356 under a hangar: at Domaine du Rétro, Omar Bekkari's collection boasts nearly a hundred vintage cars, many of which arrived as wrecks before being restored on-site. The mechanics and bodywork workshop is part of the tour, just like the models displayed around the swimming pool.
The guided tour makes all the difference: the hosts tell the story of each car, often linked to Morocco, with infectious enthusiasm, and enthusiasts don't notice the hours passing. Visitors come as fellow car enthusiasts, with curious teenagers in tow, or for a photo session. It's not an air-conditioned museum with glass cases: some cars wait under shelters or tarps, and the estate is located on the road to Casablanca, about 4 km from the Grand Stade.
The best tip: stay for lunch by the pool after the tour. The best time slot is the morning, before the heat, since part of the collection is viewed outdoors; the estate is open every day.
