Jardin Bio Aromatique de l'Ourika review: our verdict
Here, you visit with your nose. Peppermint, verbena, lavender, thyme, sage, lemon trees, and pomegranate trees grow at the foot of the High Atlas, at an altitude of 840 meters, and the tour concludes with a teapot infusing several plants from the garden. At the back, a boutique sells only Nectarome products, the brand of natural cosmetics linked to the estate.
The workshops make this outing special: kneading and baking bread over a wood fire, henna, Moroccan tea, a foot bath with plants followed by a massage. Children love watching the bread baking, while parents stay for the herbal tea. Plan for a half-day, including lunch if you have booked. This is not the Ourika of waterfalls and hikes; you come to sit in the shade, not to walk.
The dish to order: fresh bread from the oven, with olive oil and honey. The trap: arriving for lunch without a reservation; it's better to call two days in advance. The best slot: in the morning, for the tour followed by a workshop before the meal.
