Jardins d'Issil review: our verdict
You sleep under canvas, but not in the rough. At Jardins d'Issil, the rooms are caïd tents draped in red or cream, complete with a real bed, a living area, and a terrace, spread across a five-hectare estate planted with palm trees and olive groves. In the center lies a large swimming pool with its bar, and a colonnaded building surrounding a second pool in the style of a kasbah.
Perfect for a weekend getaway for two or with friends who want the countryside without venturing far: the town center and airport are just twenty minutes away. The Moroccan cuisine at the restaurant is generous, the spa offers hammam and treatments, and the estate can be privatized for holidays and events. This isn't a base for strolling through the medina every day, and very large groups should secure everything in writing before arriving.
The best time to visit: dinner, when the lanterns light up in the garden. The pitfall: organizing a large group without getting written confirmation of where everyone is sleeping. The smart move: a day of swimming and lunch with friends to discover the place before sleeping there.
