Our review
At the top of the Es Saadi palace, on the third floor in Hivernage, La Cour des Lions overlooks the park, the illuminated city, and the Atlas Mountains. Architect Aziz Lamghari drew inspiration from the Alhambra in Granada: a spectacular dome, carved stone, intricate plasterwork, and large glass windows. The menu draws from ancient recipes, from mourouzia to ras el hanout, a 12th-century dish, to pigeon pastilla, passing through saffron-infused Taliouine bar tajine.
The generous and aromatic Berber lamb couscous is the dish to order first. Some of the produce comes from the Potager du Bled, the organic farm owned by the family. Before heading to the table, you can settle into the large lounge or on one of the two terraces. Subtle Moroccan music, smiling and attentive service: an address for a family dinner, a date night for two, or to impress guests. During Ramadan, the house serves a ftour buffet.
Note: dinner is served only in the evening, from 7 pm to 11 pm, and expect more than 500 dirhams per person. Reserve a table near the windows or on the terrace to enjoy the view.
