La Cueva review: our verdict
La Cueva fits into a tiny space and owns it: a counter lined with leather stools, brick walls covered in frames, a neon sign bearing its name, and screens everywhere for football. In the evening, a band sets up and plays late, interspersed with rounds of well-chilled beers and tapas to nibble on.
It's more of a friends' bar than a restaurant: you come for the festive atmosphere, the late-night mini-concert, and attentive service ready to answer any question. On match nights, the giant screen brings everyone together. It's not for a comfortable meal or a large group: the room is small, the tables and chairs are back-breaking, and you'll soon find yourself elbow to elbow.
The glass to order: a fresh beer with a few tapas. The right time: early evening, before the room gets packed. The trap: arriving in a large group without warning, as the welcome at the door can be unpredictable.
