Mandala Society Essaouira review: our verdict
The dish of the day follows the harvest, and that's the whole principle: Mandala Society cooks local, fresh, seasonal products, from short supply chains, just steps away from the fish market. The plates, healthy and inspired from all over the world, arrive beautifully presented, balanced without ever looking sad, accompanied by drinks from a bit of every horizon.
Some make it their daily breakfast rendezvous, others return for dinner several evenings during the same stay. Upstairs, a few tables overlook the animation of Avenue de l'Istiqlal, and the smiling, always available waitstaff team makes you want to come back. The wifi allows you to linger alone. We pass on a boozy dinner, since alcohol is not served, or for a meal at the right price: the bill exceeds that of neighboring tables a bit, the approach being more so.
The good slot: in the morning, for an orange juice and a board. The dish to order: the dish of the day, the most faithful reflection of the cuisine. The trap: arriving with a specific craving for salmon, sometimes absent depending on the harvest.
