Chez Zak review: our verdict
The house features two stars and stages them perfectly: Zak presents his lobsters and prawns before they are cooked, then they pass over the charcoal grill. They return split in half, drizzled with herbs, with a smoky flavor, sautéed vegetables, and two sauces. Grilled prawns and fish follow the same path.
Behind a discreet façade, the house rises: a pink salon with colorful cushions on the ground floor, two upper levels, then a rooftop terrace with a view of the medina at sunset. Zak's welcome is warm. It is the address for a dinner for two or a small table that wants to treat themselves; not for a tight budget, nor for those coming for a simple calamari: aside from specialties, the plates are small and often without accompaniment.
The dish to order: the grilled lobster, the house specialty. The trap: ordering something else and finding the bill heavy for the quantity. The good slot: sunset on the roof, by reserving, as the house is small.
