Mazair review: our verdict
Rfissa alone justifies the trip: it is the dish that achieves universal acclaim and best encapsulates what Mazair does best, serving home-style Moroccan cuisine in a thoughtfully designed setting right on the Atlantic Ocean Boulevard. Medfouna, tajines, and salads follow the same high standard, while the generous brunch leaves no one hungry.
The owner personally oversees the dining room, background music accompanies the meal without imposing itself, and prices remain reasonable for a venue almost on the waterfront. Families and groups of friends feel right at home. In the kitchen, however, the pace is slow: nearly an hour of waiting can occur, and dishes from the same table may arrive half an hour apart. This is a poor choice for a rushed meal or for those seeking anything other than traditional Moroccan fare.
The dish to order is rfissa, followed by medfouna if your appetite continues. The trap to avoid: the pizzas and the batbout box, which is vegetarian and sparsely filled; stick to the Moroccan dishes. Closed on Mondays, open the rest of the week from 9 am to 10 pm.
