Mezzanine review: our verdict
Finding a rooftop in Fes that serves alcohol is like searching for treasure, but Mezzanine on Avenue Moulay Hassan ends the quest. The terrace is calm and refreshed by the breeze, overlooking the adjacent park, making it the perfect spot to spend the evening with a drink in hand, far from the commercial pressure of the nearby medina.
It is not strictly a restaurant but a lounge where you can snack: tapas and shared plates offer a pleasant change from the tajine served everywhere else. Service is efficient, friendly, and never pushy, and on match nights, musicians take over during halftime. It is ideal for a relaxed evening for two or among friends, with or without wine. It is not for a gourmet dinner, nor for sunset photos, as the terrace does not face west.
The drink to order: local wine, enjoyed on the terrace facing the park. The good deal: shared tapas at more than reasonable prices for a rooftop venue.
