Niya review: our verdict
Two cats, books to browse, and a kitchen with not a trace of animal products: Niya feels more like a home than a restaurant. On Fridays, the green couscous catches the eye as much as the appetite, served with a house-made drink in a green mug from Tamegroute. The rest of the week, fresh salads and creative recipes show that vegan can be generous, portions included.
On Rue Sebou, in Gauthier, the venue offers a real break in the middle of the city, and the team makes everyone feel at ease, even chatting in French with travellers who try it out. Guests who swear by meat leave happy, and during Ramadan, the iftar finds its faithful here. Not for those allergic to cats, nor for anyone dreaming of a lamb tajine: here, everything is plant-based.
The best slot: Fridays, for the green couscous. As for hours, opening from 10 am on weekends, closing at 5 pm on Sundays, and closed on Mondays.
