Oxygen Lodge Agafay review: our verdict
The infinity pool stretches toward the rocky plateaus of Agafay, with the High Atlas closing the horizon: this is the image we keep of Oxygen Lodge. Surrounding it are about twenty spacious white tents with comfortable beds and floor rugs, a rattan lounge facing the sunset, and lanterns in the evening that illuminate the steps leading up to the restaurant. The camp generates its own electricity via solar power.
The camp is designed for families and groups of friends: quad biking, buggy rides, massages, and generous Moroccan cuisine served in tagines, with dinners animated by singers. Children are welcome here, even the youngest. This is not the address for a silent romantic getaway: with groups and families, there is shouting and jumping in the pool, and the atmosphere feels more like a club than an isolated bivouac.
The best tip: book activities on-site, quad biking first, to enjoy the desert without adding a transfer. The best time slot: the end of the day by the pool, when the sun sets over the Atlas. The pitfall: coming looking for sand dunes, as Agafay is a desert of stones.
