Palais Zaitunay review: our verdict
No zellige or arcades: Palais Zaitunay has chosen a contemporary Moroccan architecture, featuring cubic brick-colored volumes, large glass windows, and immaculate lawns. In the center, a long pool lined with red-and-white striped sun loungers is surrounded by the olive trees and palms of the Palmeraie. Only fourteen rooms and suites are available on a hectare of gardens, with bright interiors where colorful tapestries and large beds take center stage.
You come here for a quiet stay, whether as a couple or with family, and let yourself be carried away: restaurant Sumac for meals, with a menu available at any time via WhatsApp, plus a spa and yoga pavilion for the wellness side. The service is attentive and house-sized. This is not a base for exploring the medina every day: allow about twenty minutes by car, with taxis and transfers organized by the hotel.
The best tip: order your lunch via WhatsApp from your sun lounger. The best time slot: late afternoon, when the light filters through the palms above the pool.
