Pescaino Seafood review: our verdict
The concept is that of a good port-side eatery: you select your fish from the day's catch, specify how you want it cooked, and it returns grilled or fried, accompanied by small dishes already included in the order, such as tomato and onion salad, eggplant, lentils, and olives. Grilled calamari and shrimp make for beautiful plates, while the small seafood stew is the house's slow-cooked specialty.
Anza is a fishing quarter and industrial area, lacking tourist charm, and Pescaino doesn't seek it: tiled room, simple tables, noise of conversations. You come here between fish lovers, as a family or a couple, primarily for the freshness. Not for a quiet dinner or a refined setting; and the attentive service can be slow when the room is full.
The best time slot: early, for lunch or dinner, as the number of seats is limited. The pitfall: not asking for the price of the chosen fish before cooking, as the bill can be surprising. The dish to order: the small seafood stew.
