Riad Demeures d'Orient & Spa review: our verdict
A real, long, heated pool year-round, set in the middle of a patio planted with palm trees and bougainvilleas: this is rare in the medina and is Demeures d'Orient's main asset. Surrounding it are wooden galleries topped with turquoise tiles that serve twelve suites, while the rooftop terrace offers a plunging view over the patio and the city's rooftops.
This is the address for a couple's stay or a quiet break just minutes from the souks and Jemaa el-Fna: spacious suites, attentive staff, a hearty breakfast on the sunny terrace, and candlelit dinners by the water. It is not the city's top-rated spa: the hammam operates without steam, using clay wraps, and the massages are not always worth their price.
The good deal: the heated pool, where you can swim even in winter. The best time slot: breakfast served on the terrace in the sun. The pitfall: booking a spa treatment while waiting for a traditional steam hammam.
