Cavale review: our verdict
The secret entrance is a glass door. Behind the gourmet grocery that serves as the façade, simply pull the handle on the shelf and the door opens onto Cavale: wood paneling, banquettes, low light. The cocktail menu is signed by Achraf El Moufadal, founder of Moroccan Mixology, and every drink has its pairing. The Mezcal Mary, smoky and spicy, arrives with a tomato-granite oyster; the Canelé en cavale, with cognac, honey, and raspberry, pairs with a jben canelé.
You come for a cocktail and stay for the plates to share: crispy maâkouda, dukkah-roasted carrots, smoked aubergine, and charcoal kefta in a brioche. It's the spot for a tête-à-tête or a small group that loves tasting, in the Golden Triangle of Maârif. This isn't a bar for a quick beer or a tight budget: signature cocktails range from 120 to 140 DH (as of October 2026).
The best time to go is after 6:30 PM, as more than half the seats, including the bar, aren't available for reservation. The trap: arriving at eight without notice; online, it's a maximum of six people, beyond that requests go through Instagram. The dish to order: charcoal beef and lamb kefta, 120 DH. Closed on Sunday and Monday.
