Dar Lwalida review: our verdict
Lwalida, which means "the mother" in Darija, lives up to its name: you eat here as if you were at a Moroccan mother's house who doesn't skimp. The couscous, with its well-prepared semolina, vegetables, and perfectly cooked meat, is the first reason to visit. The beef tail is a specialty, served in a tanjia or tajine with caramelized onions and raisins, and the rfissa has nothing to be ashamed of.
The dining room revolves around a host who is always happy to advise and a responsive team, quick to bring a little extra sauce if the plate runs dry. Ideal for a family lunch, a meal before a train, or your first real couscous upon arriving in Rabat. Not suitable for a late dinner: the kitchen closes at 8 pm, and on Sundays, the doors remain closed.
The dish to order: the couscous, or the beef tail if the host recommends it that day. The good tip: Rabat-Ville station is a two-minute walk away, enough to fit in a real meal between trains.
