El Cenador review: our verdict
A décor that hasn't changed since the protectorate, and behind the windows, the Hassan II Mosque: El Cenador knows how to set the mood before the first bite. The menu, focused on the sea and cooked in a Mediterranean style, ranges from shellfish to paella, with a Catalan cream to finish and a well-chosen wine list.
Professional and discreet service, lounge music in the background, classy dining room: the house of Petit Rocher suits a romantic dinner or a slightly dressed-up meal, when the flow of passersby animates the windows. To avoid for a quick lunch or a tight budget: the bill is a notch above average, even if the freshness of the products justifies it.
The dish to order: fish or shellfish, the reason for the menu. The trap: composed salads and guacamole, which stray from the advertised classics (November 2025). The good slot: a late spring dinner, when the sun sets late on the mosque.
