Guacaté review: our verdict
Before having a dining room, Guacaté already had its loyal customers for delivery, thanks to its dark kitchen. On Boulevard Mohamed Abdou, in Gauthier, this Mexican street-food keeps the same spirit: well-stuffed burritos, including a version with shredded beef chuck, classic fries or well-seasoned sweet potato fries, and a pitcher of fresh bissap to accompany.
It's a table for a hearty meal between friends or two, without ceremony, at more than fair prices. The service goes the extra mile: they advise you, sauces are complimentary, and the owner welcomes you personally. The cuisine, however, has its inconsistencies, between a guacamole sometimes timid in seasoning, dishes that arrive lukewarm, and meat tacos that don't convince everyone. As for the decor, still sober, it doesn't tell the story of Mexico: for the atmosphere, we'll pass.
The dish to order: a burrito, with sweet potato fries. The good tip: keep a spot for the tres leches, or for the guacao, a slightly spicy chocolate mousse.
