June review: our verdict
The pistachio and orange blossom water tart is the best reason to push open the door of June: a pistachio without the slightest bitterness, softened by the orange blossom, in a display case of homemade tarts that also feature raspberry, tiramisu, and pear-apple. The know-how is that of French pastry, and the chocolate éclair as well as the raspberry-banana cake have their devotees.
The savory options hold their own: a salmon croissant, a shrimp, avocado, mango, and quinoa salad served well, a ribeye steak with sautéed vegetables, brunches, and burgers. The venue, tastefully decorated and air-conditioned, suits a coffee between friends, a weekend brunch, or a light weekday lunch, on rue Hafid Ibrahim. It is not an address for dinner: the house closes at 7:30 p.m., and is closed all day on Mondays.
The dish to order: one of the tarts, the pistachio-orange blossom first. The good slot: midday, when the salads and ribeye take over from the display case. The trap: coming on a Monday, doors closed.
