Hatch Restaurant & Cafe review: our verdict
English breakfast on one side, Middle Eastern breakfast on the other: at Hatch, the breakfast is served in a traveller-friendly format, and both plates hold up well. The team is also adept at improvising. A last-minute request results in pancakes returning adorned with a "Happy Birthday" in chocolate, serving as a birthday cake.
The room is pleasantly lit and equipped with power outlets everywhere, accommodating everything from morning coffee to afternoon laptop work or a family outing with the children. The young, cheerful staff take the time to offer advice. Traditional shakshouka lovers will be disappointed: here, it is reduced to a tomato sauce without surrounding vegetables.
The dish to order: one of the two complete breakfasts, English or Oriental. The trap: the waffles are far more generous with berries than the menu suggests. The tip: let the team know about a birthday, as they know how to transform a plate of pancakes into a cake.
