La Smala Rooftop review: our verdict
The sun setting over the ocean, as seen from the Kasbah rooftops, is the main attraction of La Smala Rooftop, the auberge's elevated terrace, and that alone is enough. The place is rarely crowded, the atmosphere relaxed, and you can sip a smoothie or another non-alcoholic drink while nibbling on crispy homemade chips and a homemade guacamole seasoned with a touch of honey.
For a non-alcoholic sunset aperitif with a partner or friends, the plan works. For a proper meal, not so much: the wait can exceed half an hour for a simple coffee, even when the terrace is nearly empty, orders get lost between tables, and the rest of the menu struggles to impress. Worn-out seats and music that is too quiet also fail to keep those who intended to stay for a while.
The right time slot: late afternoon, for the sunset facing the open sea. The trap: arriving hungry; here, you come for the view and a drink, not for dinner.
