Le Baratin review: our verdict
Sliced steak, fine fries, and a green herb sauce: at Le Baratin, the classic bistro dish arrives just as one hopes it would, and that is the whole point. The house serves a refined revisiting of counter-style French cuisine, from pistachio-filled pastry to herb-flavored mayo eggs, through to the fries burger and pastas that even children finish.
The dining room has style without taking itself too seriously: a wall covered in black-and-white portraits of stars, a green-tiled bar, a mezzanine, and upholstered chairs. Perfect for a lingering lunch, a dinner with friends, or a family outing, with attentive service and a chef who is happy to come out to the dining room. This is not a destination for Moroccan cuisine or a gastronomic dinner: you come for the bistro.
The dish to order: the steak-frites with green sauce. The best time to come: lunch, as the kitchen opens at 11:30 and stays open late into the evening. The best tip: the children's dishes, designed for little ones without being compromised.
