Noria Golf Club review: our verdict
Here, even the greens are geometric: rectangular, they respond to long water basins that reflect the clubhouse and the sky. Designed by Steve Forrest and opened in the mid-2010s, the Noria Golf Club unfolds its 18 holes a quarter-hour south of Marrakech, on the road to Tahanaout, among olive groves, lavender, and desert passages, with a noria at the 15th hole and the Atlas as a backdrop.
The course speaks to golfers who have already played Marrakech's classics and are looking for a layout that breaks from the ordinary: well-maintained fairways, fast greens, and a clubhouse topped with white sails for the post-round drink. It is not yet the address for a quiet round: construction work lines the site, with noise and, in places, a construction site to cross.
The trap: relying on the clubhouse for a quick snack, as the weekend brunch passes everything else there and prices are high. The good tip: plan your snack before an early morning departure. The best slot: late afternoon, when the basins reflect the sunset; the club closes at 7 p.m. on weekdays, later on weekends.
