Petit Four by Kaltouma review: our verdict
Fresh msemen are made to order in the pan and brought to you by Kaltouma herself at Petit Four, where Moroccan morning cuisine is prepared fresh with fresh ingredients and a pastry chef's expertise. On some days, a rfissa is added to the table. The place has a family history, as it belonged to her mother, who turned it into this charming little room with an unexpected allure.
From the outside, nothing announces it, and the door on Ibnou Sina Street is not easy to find. Inside, it is small and beautifully arranged, and you are welcomed like visiting cousins, children included. Tourists who discover the address often return every morning until they leave. It is not a café for lingering in the afternoon or for dinner: the house serves only in the morning and at lunch, and the space remains limited for a large group.
The dish to order: the msemen, followed by the rfissa if it is on the menu. The good tip: park in the public parking just next door, rather than circling around Boutchakat. The trap: come on Sunday, the day it is closed; on weekdays, it serves from 9 am to 3 pm.
