The Montgomerie Marrakech review: our verdict
The Montgomerie Marrakech clubhouse overlooks the 18th green. From its terrace, you can enjoy a view of the lake and its fountain, wide fairways, and in the distance, the Atlas Mountains; it offers the best vantage point of the course, open to those who don't play as well. The 18-hole, par 71 course bears Colin Montgomerie's signature, featuring a technical layout that isn't overly harsh, with bunkers placed where it counts.
Whether confirmed golfers or beginners, you will find a well-maintained course just a ten-minute drive from the city center on the road to the airport. Others sit down at O'Mamy Burger, the clubhouse restaurant, for a burger and fries served on a wooden board facing the green. This is not a refined dining spot, and the service remains uneven: attentive for some, cold or unaccommodating for others.
The best time slot is late afternoon on the terrace, when the sun descends over the lake. Note that the airport is nearby and planes fly over the course without really disturbing the game. The insider tip: watch for the outdoor cinema sessions at Cameo, which the golf club has already hosted in the autumn.
