Le Colibri review: our verdict
Climbing the stairs of the clubhouse at Montgomerie, you arrive just as the sky turns pink above the greens. Le Colibri has bet on this view, featuring a glass-walled room and an elevated terrace with pink banquettes, rattan hangings, and purple lighting as night falls. On the plate, an international menu to nibble through: makis, fried calamari with tomato, burgers, crafted dishes, and cocktails.
This is an address for a dinner for two or with friends that starts with an aperitif and stretches on, with a musical ambiance that rises in the evening and attentive service. It is not an improvised detour: the golf course is off-center, on the Ménara side, and requires a car. Nor is it for a hushed dinner on evenings when the music pushes the volume up and the light dims to the point of guessing your dish.
The good slot: arrive before sunset, as the house opens from 3 p.m. The good deal: a drink on the terrace in the late afternoon, for the view without the dinner. The trap: coming in the dead of night, when the view has disappeared.
