Our review
Rue de Yougoslavie, right in the heart of Guéliz, Azar brings three cuisines to the same table: Levantine, Mediterranean, and Moroccan. Start with a round of generous, varied mezzés to share, then move on to royal couscous, tajines, or mixed grills, finishing with a mouhallabia. Portions are plentiful, and the kitchen knows how to adapt, including gluten-free options.
The modern, intimate dining room maintains a human scale, making the evening feel more personal than a large cabaret. Every evening, an oriental dance performance punctuates the dinner, with two shows at 9 PM and 10 PM, and live Arabic music from Thursday to Saturday. The show animates the room without interrupting conversation. At the bar, spice-infused cocktails from the souk, and chicha served with a certain ceremony to prolong the night. A spot for a final vacation evening, a birthday, or a dinner with friends.
Note: This place is only open in the evening, from 7 PM to 1 AM, expect over 500 dirhams per person, and it's better to book to be seated at showtime. Those coming mainly for the dance will find it rather subtle: here, the plate remains the star. Upon leaving, the valet can help find a taxi.
