Fondouk Bazaar review: our verdict
Here, everything is made in-house, including the drinks, and the open kitchen visible from the dining room demonstrates this with every service. Fondouk Bazaar offers a short, confident menu centered around shareable mezze with distinct flavors, a well-spiced shakshuka, and sweet-and-salty chicken, alongside desserts that require a real hunger, including strawberry sorbet.
The setting plays on two levels: a beautifully arranged indoor room and a rooftop terrace, ideal for a sunny lunch in the heart of the medina. People come here for a gourmet break between two souks, whether as a couple or with family, from noon until 10 p.m. Those seeking the classic Fassi experience will go elsewhere, as the house prefers mezze. Service isn't the fastest, especially at the end of the shift, but prices remain acceptable for such a tourist-friendly spot.
The dish to order: the mezze set, to taste a bit of everything. The best tip: the in-house drinks, specifically the rose-flower and cinnamon lassi or bissap.
