L'Atelier 21 review: our verdict
Ghizlane Sahli, Hassan Hajjaj, Chourouk Hriech, and Mustapha Boujemaoui—the artists championed by L'Atelier 21—are exhibiting this autumn at the Institut du monde arabe in the Cité de la musique, Paris. Yet it is at Maârif where one first encounters them, in a gallery with white and grey walls under precise lighting. Until November 7, 2026, the gallery hosts Safaa Erruas and her exhibition "Habiter l'interstice".
What sets this place apart is the welcome: the team explains the works, the artist's journey, and upcoming exhibitions to anyone who asks questions. It is perfect for a cultural break for two, a novice collector, or a curious friend passing through interested in modern and contemporary Moroccan art. This is not a place for bustling activity or a rushed outing; one comes to look, listen, and leave with an artist's name in mind.
The best time to visit is from Monday to Saturday, from 9:30 to 13:00 or from 14:30 to 19:00. The trap: coming between 13:00 and 14:30 or on Sunday, as the doors are closed. The insider tip: extend your visit with the Mustapha Boujemaoui retrospective at Villa Carl Ficke, until November 30, 2026.
