L'Italien del Cézanne review: our verdict
A plate of pasta cooked to perfection is enough to define the house. At L'Italien del Cézanne, they serve Italian cuisine without shortcuts, using fresh ingredients and a fairly extensive menu that lets you try something different each time without missing the mark. No staging: the plate speaks first, and it speaks clearly.
The chef and manager personally attend to the tables, giving the place, on boulevard Driss Slaoui, the feel of a neighborhood trattoria where you eventually develop a regular habit. Couples and groups of friends alike find a table here. Not for a drawn-out evening: the kitchen closes at 10:30 PM on weekdays and lunch service ends at 3:30 PM.
The dish to order: the pasta, whatever the recipe of the moment, that's where the house makes the difference. The good time slot: Saturday and Sunday, with a kitchen serving without a break from 12:30 PM, practical for a late lunch.
