La Coupole review: our verdict
Every evening, the sun sets behind the Mogador archipelago, and La Coupole's terrace is perfectly aligned to face it. Under straw umbrellas on a terracotta and white tiled floor, the menu showcases Franco-Moroccan coastal cuisine: fish from Essaouira's port, saffron from Taliouine, local argan and amlou, and Moroccan wines. The octopus, served with a butternut squash mousse and chimichurri, is the house specialty.
The venue champions an eco-responsible approach: furniture made from driftwood and reclaimed materials, biological paints, and microfiltered on-site water instead of bottled. Friends gather here for sunset aperitifs, families for lunches facing the ocean, or crowds for the Moga OFF electronic nights. This is not a spot for a quiet tête-à-tête: music and lively atmosphere are part of the decor.
The dish to order: octopus with butternut squash mousse and chimichurri. The glass to order: a house cocktail like the Maiden Voyage. The best time to come: an hour before sunset. The trap: arriving without reserving the terrace on a beautiful day.
