Maison Amaj review: our verdict
The display window of Maison Amaj does the first job: modern desserts, with clean lines and bold colors, presented as in a grand house. Behind, a bakery that doesn't rest on the sweet: chocolatine, brioche, pain suisse, madeleines, cookies, and small breads for the morning.
The place, spacious and relaxing, opens onto a sunny terrace where one willingly lingers: breakfast with homemade granola and fluffy omelette, sweet break in the afternoon, simple plates at lunch. Those who stay in the corner, rue Moulay Ali, end up passing there morning and evening. The welcome, led by the owner and her team, is attentive without being clingy, even if the boutique entry could be more welcoming. Coffee lovers, however, will be disappointed: the cup remains below the cakes.
The dish to order: a chocolatine in the morning, a display window dessert in the afternoon. The trap: coming mainly for the coffee. The good slot: in the morning from 8:30, in the sun on the terrace, before the display window empties.
