Our review
At kilometer 14 of the road to Amizmiz, Samanah unfolds a par 72 course of 6,655 meters across over a hundred hectares, designed by Nicklaus Design. The course blends palm trees, grass, and almost desert landscapes, with the Atlas Mountains in the background when the sky is clear. Its signature feature: bunkers that guard the drive landing zones and the edges of the greens, and fast greens with well-marked slopes.
To warm up, a seven-hectare practice area with unlimited balls and a nine-hole pitch & putt. The clubhouse, spacious and well-maintained, houses a well-stocked pro shop, a bar, and the Mulligan restaurant, whose terrace is perfect after a round, with good and reasonably priced cuisine. Halfway through, mint tea awaits the players, and clubs are cleaned at the end. Pros offer lessons. The course appeals to regular players seeking technical challenges, as well as groups looking for a beautiful day of golf.
Note: allow about forty minutes' drive from Marrakech and expect European-style green fees. Maintenance may vary by season, and a few holes lack signs to find the next tee. When the course is in top form, the view of the Atlas makes up for the rest.
