The Bond Speakeasy review: our verdict
The game begins before the first drink. You must head upstairs to L'Octave, the piano bar, and push a hidden door in a library to enter The Bond. Behind it lies a dimly lit small room, leather club chairs, a turntable with its vinyls, and a red neon sign reading "Read responsibly" above the shelves.
Here, there is no need to read the menu. You indicate your mood, the desired profile—fruity, bitter, smoky, floral, or spicy—and the base spirit, then the mixologist crafts a custom cocktail with advice to spare. The soundtrack leans toward funk and soul, with a DJ hosting the evening. This is the spot for a tête-à-tête or a drink between friends who appreciate guidance; it is not for a group of fifteen looking to spread out, as the room is small and the atmosphere intimate.
The drink to order is the one the bartender invents based on your mood. The dish to order is the honey-roasted camembert, regressive yet effective, or a few tapas. The best time to visit is from Monday to Saturday, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.; closed on Sundays.
