The Mellah Hotel review: our verdict
The best of The Mellah Hotel is found on the roof. A 12-metre pool lined with red zellige tiles stretches toward the Atlas Mountains and the Koutoubia, while the kitchen serves a Mediterranean menu sourced from local produce under a pergola. Below, across three levels, lies a reimagined riad from the Mellah featuring black-and-white checkered floors, an open patio facing the sky, copper bathtubs in ochre-walled rooms, and artworks by local artists on every landing.
With ten rooms and suites, the hotel plays up intimacy: a weekend for two in the medina, a birthday celebration, or a stay where you willingly retreat between two souks. The staff is attentive and can also reserve a table elsewhere upon request. This is not the address for a tribal stay or for those seeking a large resort; life concentrates between the patio and the roof.
The best deal: the day pass, around 650 DH with access to the pool and a lunch of starter, main course, and dessert (updated for 2026), bookable via WhatsApp, ideal when your own riad lacks a pool. The best time slot: late afternoon on the roof, when the light falls upon the Koutoubia.
